AIHM Member Recieves Full Scholarship!
Thanks to the generosity of our partners at Duke University, the Academy of Integrative Health & Medicine was given the opportunity to offer one full scholarship exclusively for an AIHM member to the esteemed Leadership Program in Health and Well-Being at Duke University.
The scholarship committee received many wonderful applications and was elated to award the scholarship to Lauri Medina, MD, PACS, MA. Lauri is a graduate of AIHM’s Fellowship program and active in the Alumni Association.
She is board certified in General Surgery and Integrative Medicine. She has had a lifelong passion for caring for individuals as complete people. While General Surgery has allowed her to take care of acute disease and traumatic problems, her growing interested in looking beyond the “chief complaint” healed her to pursue a career in Integrative Medicine.
She has recently accepted the position of the Director of the Center for Life at the University of New Mexico and is looking forward to working with the team to make integrative health a routine component of all aspects of health care.
She has been very fortunate to work in the mountains of Colorado her entire life and to have had the opportunity to care for individuals of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. She brings this perspective as well as her own Ecuadorian roots and insights gained from international medical experiences to her patients. When not working, she enjoys any and all mountain pursuits with her three teenage boys.
Let’s all congratulate Dr. Medina on this wonderful opportunity!
